Needle, Barry

Barry Needle was born in Port Talbot, south Wales. He has worked in a steelworks and in parcel distribution, and now lives in Llanelli. Once a motorcycle racer, he spends his spare time expanding his portfolio of photographs of the south Wales landscape. This is his first book.

Nicholson, Mavis

Mavis Nicholson was born in 1930 In Briton Ferry, in south Wales. After university, she became an advertising copywriter and then a fulltime mother. She was a forty year old mother of three when she began presenting ‘Good Afternoon’, which was followed by many other programmes, including ‘Mavis on 4’. She was a grandmother of three when she began her famous chat show, ‘Mavis Catches Up With…’. She lives in mid Wales.

Norris, Leslie

Leslie Norris (1921 - 2006) was born in Merthyr Tydfil.  Formerly a teacher and headmaster, he for many years taught literature and creative writing in American universities, most recently at Brigham Young, Utah, where he was Christiansen Professor of Poetry. He wrote poetry since 1941 and published eleven collections, including a Selected Poems.

Ormond, John

John Ormond (1923-1990) was born at Dunvant, and educated at University College, Swansea. After an early career as a print journalist he became an outstanding documentary film maker at the BBC.

Osmond, John

John Osmond has been a leading journalist, tv producer and commentator on the Welsh scene since the early 1970s, and is the author of several books on Welsh politics and society. A past chairman of the Welsh Union of Writers, he has been chairman of the Parliament for Wales Campaign since 1991 and is a founder member of the Council of Charter 88. He is currently Director of the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
